COB anuncia os atletas que serão homenageados este ano no Hall da Fama

Na lista divulgada nesta sexta-feira (9) está Oscar Schimidt, ícone do basquete mundial e maior cestinha olímpico; Ricardo Santos e Emanuel Rego, dupla campeã olímpica no vôlei de praia nos Jogos de Atenas 2005; e Alexandre Welter e Lars Björkström, primeira parceria do país a faturar o ouro olímpico, em Moscou 1980.<img src="https://agenciabrasil.ebc.com.br/ebc.png?id=1674693&o=rss" style="width:1px; height:1px; display:inline;" /><img src="https://agenciabrasil.ebc.com.br/ebc.gif?id=1674693&o=rss" style="width:1px; height:1px; display:inline;" /></p> <p>Os cinco novos integrantes foram definidos pela comissão avaliadora, no último dia 10. Depois de sete anos, já são 39 os homenageados. Os quatro últimos foram a ginasta Daiane dos Santos, o judoca Edinanci Silva, o tenista Gustavo Kuerten e o atirado esportivo Afrânico Costa in memoriam, eleitos em 2025.</p> <h2>Biografia dos atletas</h2> <p><strong>Alex Welter e Lars Björkström - vela </strong><br /> Alex Welter e Lars Björkström entraram para a história com ao levarem a primeira medalha de ouro olímpica do país na modalidade - classe Tornado - na Olimpíada de Moscou (1980)..Na ocasião, eles quebraram um jejum de 24 anos sem pódios olímpicos do país. A parceria começou em 1976 e logo despontou no cenário internacional, com classificações para competições mundiais e olímpicas. Após encerrarem a carreira, ambos seguiram ativos no Movimento Olímpico, atuando inclusive como voluntários na Rio 2016. O brasileiro integra tanto o Hall da Fama da Federação Internacional de Basquete (Fiba) quanto o Hall da Fama da NBA, embora nunca tenha atuado na liga norte-americana.  mesmo sem nunca ter atuado na liga. Além dos pódios, Ricardo e Emanuel deixam como legado a consolidação do vôlei de praia como uma das modalidades mais vitoriosas do Brasil.</p>
