WSL: Brasil emplaca 6 surfistas nas oitavas da etapa de Margaret River

</a></p>O surfe brasileiro emplacou seis representantes nas oitavas de final da etapa australiana de Margaret River, a segunda da Liga Mundial de Surfe - World Surf League (WSL). Na abertura da janela nesta quinta-feira (16), avançaram Gabriel Medina, Yago Dora, Ítalo Ferreira, João Chianca e dos irmãos Miguel e Samuel Pupo. Quem deu adeus precoce à Margaret River foi Matheus Herdy, Filipe Toledo e Alejo Muniz. <p>Primeiro a se classificar hoje, o paulista Samuel Pupo obteve 15.50 (soma das duas maiores notas) na bateria de abertura do round 2 contra o norte-americano Cole Houshmand (11.60). Nas oitavas, o brasileiro duelará com o norte-americano Kanoa Igarashi.</p>

Terceiro colocado na etapa de Bells Beach semana passada, Medina somou 13.16 contra 8.50 do mexicano. O próximo adversário do paulista de São Sebastião será o anfitrião Jack Robinson, que foi bicampeão da etapa em 2024.</p>

<p>O catarinense Yago Dora, atual campeão mundial, levou a melhor na estreia contra o australiano Jacob Willcox, com somatório 13.67 contra 12.93 ao final da nona bateria. Dora terá pela frente nas oitavas o australiano-japonês Connor OLeary.</p>
<p>Na 11ª bateira, o bicampeão mundial Ítalo Ferreira travou uma disputa emocionante contra o marroquino Ramzi Boukhiam e sal vitorioso. O potiguar avançou com apenas 14 décimos de diferença, com total 13.47 contra 13.33 do adversário. A disputa das oitavas será 100% brasileira: Ítalo enfrentará João Chianca, que se classificou na bateria seguinte, ao derrotar o norte-americano Jake Marshall. Surfista de Saquarema (RJ), Chianca anotou 12.70 contra 12.00 de Marshall.</p>
<p>Último brasileiro a descer as ondas de Margareth River, Miguel Pupo, líder do ranking após o título em Bells Beach, passou fácilo pelo australiano Morgan Cibilic, com nota 12.83 contra 6.90. Nas oitavas o paulista enfrentará outro anfitrião: Ethan Ewing.</p>
<p>O Brasil conta ainda com Luana Silva na competição feminina. Ela estreará direto no round 2 contra a dona da casa Sophie McCulloc.</p>
